INFORMATION RESOURCE


The Historic England Archive holds major collections of national importance covering archaeology, architecture, social and local history and incorporates the old National Monuments Record. The collections include photographs, drawings, plans and documents. Historic England has a statutory responsibility for recording buildings that are to be totally or partly demolished following Listed Building Consent.


At the Historic England Archive in Swindon members of the public are able to use the archive and library which includes copies of the listings (listed buildings) and schedules (monuments) for the whole of England.
