The society promotes the study of tools and the trades and people who used them

It administers the Salaman Fund (either in the form of grants towards the cost of proposed research projects and/or awards for research already completed) for projects relating to original work of a kind which advances the objectives of the Society. A maximum of £500 is available to any one applicant in any year.
