The Society, founded in 1972, promotes the study and recording of all aspects of the archaeology and history of bricks, brickmaking and brickwork.

Members are drawn from many backgrounds - geologists, archaeologists, schoolteachers, artists, historians, brickmakers, bricklayers, architects, engineers, etc. Some have a professional interest in a particular aspect of the subject, for others membership is an extension of a general interest or hobby. All share a fascination for the history and development of the manufacture and use of bricks.
