ECCLESIATICAL ORGANISATION
The Church Buildings Council (formerly known as the Council for the Care of Churches) is a statutory body of the Church of England which is accountable to the General Synod.
The CBC supports dioceses and parishes in the use, care and development of parish churches, their contents and churchyards by providing expert advice, guidance and grants.
It advises on applications made to the diocesan advisory committees on applications for faculties (the C of E equivalent of listed building consent, planning permission etc). It is consulted on works that will make big changes to grade I or II* listed churches and to some grade II listed buildings, and on proposals for the conservation or disposal of historic furnishings and objects. |
