Lincoln Conservation's paint research methodology combines archival research with microscopic examination of paint samples. Careful uncovering provides an understanding of complex decorative finishes such as stencilling, marbling and graining. This creates an accurate timeline of the decorative history of a room, building or its exterior. These findings are crucial for the interpretation of an historic building allowing informed, evidence-based decisions on how an historic building should be presented.

The Lincoln Conservation team has worked on some of the UK’s most iconic properties, maritime vessels, churches and monuments including, HMS Victory, Buckingham Palace, Brodick Castle, Osbourne House. Its clients include: English Heritage, National Trust, Historic Scotland, Royal Household and a number of ecclesiastical institutions.
