The Society has two principal aims; to promote the study of garden history, landscape gardening and horticulture in all its aspects and to promote the protection and conservation of historic parks, gardens and designed landscape and, where appropriate, to advise on their restoration.
The Society employs one Conservation Officer in Scotland, publishes a journal and newsletter and organises lectures, conferences and excursions for its members and others.
