The Changing Parish Church: From Saxon to Victorian, c600-1900

29th April, 2017
King's Church, Brooks Road, Lewes, Sussex

The impact of changes in how our forebears worshipped, in the architectural styles used for churches, in preferences for different layouts and interior features have left their mark on our parish churches. So have political decisions such as the English Reformation begun by Henry VIII. Every church is unique and many are repositories of the work of outstanding craftsmen, often unknown. This conference aims to encourage further interest in and appreciation of these buildings.
