Cathedral Communications' logo

Cathedral Communications is a specialist publishing house working exclusively in the heritage field, with publications and website on architectural history, archaeology and the conservation, restoration and repair of historic buildings, their contents and surroundings. Personal data is gathered when people request information or publications from us.

We treat all data with the utmost care. Personal data held by Cathedral is physically protected, firewalled and secured by the latest electronic systems, and strict managerial procedures are maintained to ensure data security and protection.

Cathedral uses MailChimp for preparing occasional newsletters and emails. Personal data is held by us on the service provider’s online platforms in accordance with MailChimp’s own Privacy Policy. Cathedral does not share personal data with any other organisation.

When you contact Cathedral by phone, email or website to request information, we will make a record of your name, email address and, if you wish to receive a publication by post, your postal address. We may also record your interest in conservation – for example as an owner or as a professional in a particular field, and we retain details of your previous orders or requests so we know which areas of heritage you may be interested in.

We may occasionally use this information for providing you with further information on conservation issues, events, publications and resources.

This personal information is held with your agreement to help us meet your information requirements within the field of conservation. It will be held for as long as the agreement exists and for a reasonable period of time afterwards as required under law.

Cathedral also publishes and distributes publications for other organisations, including the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, the Chartered Institute for Archaeology and the Association for Studies in the Conservation of Historic Buildings. We therefore regularly process personal data of their members and other recipients. This data is limited to the information which appears on the mailing label, and excludes all non-essential information. This data is used exclusively for distributing the publication requested and is deleted after each distribution.

When you visit our site,, we log your IP address (the unique address which identifies your computer on the internet). We use IP addresses to collect broad geographic information on our site visitors. We do not link IP addresses to personally identifiable information.
