The Friends of Cathedral Music is a charitable organisation which exists to safeguard the priceless heritage of cathedral music, a distinctive genre of church music, and to support this living tradition. The society was founded in 1956 by the Revd Ronald Sibthorp and now counts more than 3,600 members. Since 1956 it has given nearly £1.4 million to Anglican and Roman Catholic cathedral choirs, church choirs and collegiate chapel choirs. In 2006, to mark the Golden Jubilee of the society’s foundation it made grants totaling £250,000, including grants of £30,000 to both Rochester and Truro Cathedrals.

The society organises events to give members the opportunity to enjoy talks and recitals and participate in choral worship together. The society also publishes three popular periodicals that are supplied to members at no extra charge. For more info check the website,
