TIMBER WINDOWS AND DOORS

Lomax + Wood specialises in the design of timber windows and doors for conservation areas and listed properties. Working with architects, conservation professionals and property owners the company creates beautiful, made-to-order products that are created in house and supported with over 60 years of experience.

The fully coordinated Kensington & Chelsea range offers single and double glazed box sash and casement windows; entrance, bi-folding and French doors; special shapes, fixed glazing panels and fanlights.

Lomax + Wood’s design techniques ensure that the end result is historically accurate in every detail with products that meet today’s thermal, acoustic and security requirements with finishes that are durable and low maintenance. One important design aspect Lomax + Wood champion is producing products without Swedish joints. Swedish joints were introduced to help with the mass production of timber windows. They are seen on the joints of modern wooden frames and sashes where two pieces of timber come together. Planners and Conservation officers often look unfavourably on these modern joints as they are not in keeping with a traditional appearance. A flush joint is more aesthetically appealing, particularly to those seeking to protect our architectural heritage.

Lomax + Wood are committed to sourcing from sustainable sources, to this end we have worked hard to achieve FSC® Chain of Custody which is deemed by many to be an environmental gold standard. This work was undertaken in partnership with BM TRADA who are also deemed to be a mark of quality in our industry.

Lomax + Wood provide a complete service, from site survey through to installation and are repeatedly specified by architects for inclusion where period timber windows and doors are required.
