ARIA represents the most senior archaeologists employed by or for local planning authorities in Scotland.

Members advise their authorities and the public on the protection and promotion of sites, monuments and historic landscapes and are routinely consulted on all planning, Scottish Forestry Grant Schemes and Rural Stewardship Scheme applications.
