ACCREDITATION

CIAT-Accredited Conservationists are members of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (MCIAT) who are actively practising in conservation and have been assessed and accredited against a set of competences in the area of conservation. CIAT's register also includes 'CIAT-Recognised' Conservationists who have the appropriate knowledge and skills but who do not practise in conservation.

The accreditation demonstrates a commitment to conservation best practice and a high degree of expertise within the sector. The competences on which the accreditation/recognition is based have been agreed by the Edinburgh Group, a consortium of bodies which includes English Heritage, Historic Scotland and professional bodies.

Chartered Architectural Technologists are the lead for the technological and technical design; forming the link between concept, innovation and realisation.
