SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP

The Gardens Trust is the national organisation for the conservation and promotion of historic designed landscapes. It also represents and supports the 37 local County and Country Garden Trusts including Trusts in Scotland (Garden Landscape Heritage) and Northern Ireland.

The Gardens Trust (a merger of the Garden History Society and Association of Gardens Trusts) is a statutory consultee for Government in relation to planning applications which affect Historic England’s Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest, and publishes the leading academic journal, Garden History.

It runs a support and capacity building programme for volunteers in the sector and is working to ensure that engagement with historic designed landscapes is enjoyed across wide and diverse audiences, particularly through events, outreach, and social media.
