PROFESSIONAL BODY

The professional membership body for the assessment and registration of fire engineers and for maintaining industry standards. Suitably qualified members may be registered as Chartered Engineers (CEng), Incorporated Engineers (IEng) or Engineering Technicians (Eng Tech).

Learning opportunities are worldwide within the IFE fire community and the IFE delivers more than 6,000 fire-related exams each year which are required by many fire and rescue services within the UK and internationally.

Historic building requirements are considered under the IFE's Special Interest Group for Heritage Buildings, which was set up in September 2008. This operates under the direction of a steering group, which includes representatives from Historic England, Historic Environment Scotland, National Trust, fire and rescue services, building control departments and others.
