The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is an intergovernmental organisation which marks, records and maintains Commonwealth war graves and memorials. It ensures that the 1.7 million people who died in the two world wars will never be forgotten by caring for cemeteries and memorials at 23,000 locations in more than 150 countries and territories.

Six member governments make up the commission: Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom. The cost of its work is met by the member governments in proportion to the number of their war graves.
