A permanent Commission of the General Synod of the Church of England. The Council's principal duty is to assist parishes in their task of maintaining their church buildings, contents and church yards. It publishes a wide range of specialist and general booklets on their conservation and care, gives advice and organises conferences.

The Council also offers modest grants to PCCs for the conservation of important furnishings and fittings in Anglican churches.
