CONSULTANCY & CONSERVATION OF HISTORIC BUILDINGS: Richard
Ireland is an independent consultant and practitioner advising private
and public bodies including English Heritage, Historic Royal Palaces,
Westminster City Council, the Office of Public Works Ireland, National
Trust, Historic Scotland and ecclesiastical organisations. Specialising
in plain and decorative plaster, internal and external finishes, paint
analysis, and the reinstatement of historic schemes, projects typically
involve a combination of archaeological investigation, scientific analysis
and contextual historic research. Projects are undertaken throughout
the UK, Ireland and overseas and encompass a diverse spectrum of
historically significant buildings varying from the British Museum and
Holy Sepulchre Jerusalem to smaller domestic interiors.
Plaster Restorations can sympathetically reproduce original plasterwork,
either by hand-crafted manufacture or working purely in-situ.
We’ve also developed a unique and cost-effective system for re-securing
loose ornamental ceilings back to their original fixings, which retains the
original plasterwork while maintaining the historic integrity of the building.
